The Osteopathic Centre for Children launches new Mother & Baby gift voucher

Almost half of all births in the UK are now the result of intervention, from induced labour to forceps deliveries, epidurals to emergency caesarean sections, which can leave both mother and baby feeling worse for wear.

The Osteopathic Centre for Children recommends that all newly delivered mothers and babies receive a postnatal osteopathic check-up to avoid the residual problems that may be suffered by mother and baby after any sort of delivery.

Problems in the mother can include back pain, incontinence, difficulties with breastfeeding, headaches and postnatal depression. Babies can suffer from colic, difficulties in settling and sleeping, excessive crying.

'Paediatric osteopathy uses gentle manual techniques to bring about profound changes within a child's body, using non-invasive but highly effective rebalancing procedures that allow the different body systems to work effectively and harmoniously,' says Director of Osteopathy at the OCC, Stuart Korth.

Give a gift that lasts for life - give an OCC Mother & Baby check-up gift voucherThe OCC is a registered charity and doesn't charge a fee, asking instead for a donation. However, no one is ever refused treatment for want of funds.

'I really benefited from osteopathy when I was pregnant with Freya, and because I knew about paediatric osteopathy she had a 'check-up' after she was born. I'm sure it helped as she is such a settled and happy baby.'

'I felt this amazing physical and emotional release, as if all the tension in my body had been holding on to, from the birth, let go. And my own experience convinced me that it must be really good for Lyla.'
