The Osteopathic Centre for Children has been providing a paediatric osteopathy service for babies and children up to the age of 18, and an ante and postnatal service for women, for the last 15 years. The charity was born from the desire to offer this service to all babies and children, not just those whose families could afford treatment. Over that time, the charity has treated thousands of babies and children at OCC Clinic London and OCC Clinic Manchester, and the work of the OCC has gained clinical recognition, with referrals now coming from midwives, health visitors, GPs and other doctors. The OCC has also provided an outreach service to the neonatal intensive care unit at Barnet General Hospital for the last 10 years, treating premature babies, some as young as 22 weeks gestation. In addition, training post-graduate osteopaths in paediatrics ensures that the osteopaths working at the OCC are trained in the appropriate care of newborns to teenagers. The Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy has now been superseded by a Masters Degree in Paediatric Osteopathy, the MScPO, accredited by the University of Luton. |
